This is “Sean the baptist”. I see people like him at school all the time. Normally I see people like this and think “Omg here is another one of those crazy men with a sign”. Most the time when you see these people they have signs that say “you’re going to hell” or “turn or burn”, his sign said “evilution”. There I was starting to judge him again.
I’ve seen so many people like this stir up controversy and turn people away from the gospel of love with the things they say. But for the past few weeks something has compelled me to stop and listen.
Last week he apologized on behalf of the church for being judgmental and not fulfilling our purpose of loving. He then went on to explain his sign. God was definitely speaking to me.
So five minutes ago, I saw him again. I stopped and listened. He was talking about the condition of our hearts, and my heart was just aching and convicted by the beauty of what he said.
“I am a Christian, yet the deeper you dig into my heart the more pollution you will find. Our greatest enemy today is sin and death. Jesus Christ overcame both. Sin through his death, and death through his resurrection. For those of you who are sinful like me, you have found your victory over sin, and will be victorious over death as we resurrect with jesus in the last days”
For the past two weeks, he has never claimed to be perfect and has proudly boasted in his weakness. This humility is something we can all learn as Christians. I am such a proud person, but one thing I truly learned today is that “the deeper you look into my heart, the more pollution you will find”, after all, my original intention was to judge him right?
So afterwards I went and apologized to him for judging him. He accepted and shared about himself. I encouraged him to keep going and left! Hopefully over the next few weeks I get to talk to him more.
God taught me some valuable things today:
1. I am judgemental
2. I’m prideful
3. Not to judge someone by what I see
4. I’m so sinful
5. That I need more boldness to speak of Him, like Sean
6. Most importantly that he loves me and wants to use me, and is teaching me new things everyday!
Let’s all be bold and share god’s word with love!
My prayer requests:
1. To form bonds with others and share the gospel
2. Be bold
3. Humility
God, you are so faithful!
If we ask, You said You’d come, that You would send your rain on everyone.
You said if we ask, That you would come, that You would send your rain on everyone.
So right now we ask, That You would come, that You would send your rain on everyone.
So right now we ask, That You would come, that You would send your rain on everyone.
Your presence is all I need
It’s all I want, all I seek
Without it, without it there’s no meaning
Your presence is the air I breath
The song I sing, the love I need
Without it, without it I’m not living
I will exalt You, Lord, I will exalt You, Lord
There is no one like You God
I will exalt You, Lord, I will exalt You, Lord
No other name be lifted high
There will be no one like You
And no one beside You
You alone are worthy of all praise
There will be no one like You
And no one beside You
You alone are worthy of all praise
2012 Here I come!
You keep no records of my sin,
and you don’t remember all my shame.
Matthew 22: 37-38 “Jesus replied: ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’[a] 38 This is the first and greatest commandment.”
I love You and only You can satisfy me.
I Will Worship You
